Exporters evaluate strategies in the face of the crisis in the Middle East

The Salvadoran Exporters Corporation (COEXPORT) organized the Forum on Recommendations in the Face of the Crisis in the Middle East, an event that brought together approximately one hundred business leaders to analyze strategies aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the export sector in the face of changes in international trade.

During the event, national and international experts addressed the current challenges facing global supply chains and how companies are adapting their operations through logistics diversification, the use of alternative trade routes, digitalization, and frequent strategic planning.

The forum emphasized that, despite the challenges facing global trade, companies must implement measures to maintain business continuity, strengthen their supply chains, and respond more quickly to the dynamics of international markets. Among the main trends highlighted by the experts were the increase in strategic inventories, supplier diversification, real-time logistics monitoring, and the search for more efficient routes to reduce risks and ensure timely deliveries.

It was also highlighted that El Salvador has favorable conditions to consolidate its export positioning, thanks to its strategic location, proximity to key markets, and the adaptability that companies have demonstrated in the face of complex international scenarios.

The President of COEXPORT, Silvia Cuéllar, noted that changes in the global environment also present opportunities for Salvadoran companies to strengthen their logistics capacity, diversify markets, and continue investing in innovation and efficiency as key elements for positioning themselves as new international suppliers. She added that, given the need for timely supply of raw materials and inputs, companies must seek out closer suppliers, a task that is already underway.

The forum's agenda included a presentation on the geopolitical environment and sessions on international logistics, cargo insurance, risk management, and business strategies aimed at strengthening operational continuity and export competitiveness. Recommendations were provided to companies for planning purchases and shipments further in advance, diversifying suppliers and markets, strengthening logistics management, and leveraging technological tools to improve traceability and efficiency in foreign trade operations.

COEXPORT emphasized that the current international environment demands a more proactive approach from companies, incorporating continuous monitoring of the global context, risk assessment, and more structured operational planning. In this regard, it was stressed that the ability to anticipate and make timely decisions will be key to sustaining performance and competitiveness in an increasingly dynamic international market.
